Agriculture × Architecture:
Creating a Three-Dimensional "Gathering" Centered Around the Harvest.
The acts of tilling the earth and celebrating the harvest serve as a "common language" that transcends age, occupation, and nationality.
This project integrates "ultra-small-scale primary industry" into urban life—utilizing architectural margins and rooftops so that anyone can touch the soil
—while embedding a framework within the architecture to share surplus harvests with residents and neighbors, and to nurture mutual relationships through shared cooking experiences.
What is harvested here is not just physical produce; it also leads to the "harvesting of relationships" among those living together.
This is achieved through the sharing of wisdom as they help each other cultivate crops, and through the food culture born from cooking and dining together.
The architectural composition, reminiscent of terraced fields (dan-dan batake), does more than just reduce the sense of pressure on the surrounding environment.
It allows light, wind, and rain to pass through each dwelling, creating a vast outdoor space open to the sky—serving as a new ground that connects people to one another, and the city to the architecture.
These multi-layered contours of the earth represent an attempt to reconstruct the undulating beauty of past agricultural landscapes within a modern urban context.
